The Gliders are considered ‘all-round’ because they suit multiple types of foiling: wing foiling, downwind, pump foiling, wave foiling and wake foiling. It’s therefore important to select the correct size. The Glider series go from a tiny 750 all the way up to a giant 2000.
- 2000, 1700, 1400: absolutely amazing wings for efficient lightwind wing foiling, pump foiling and riding baby bumps.
- 1100, 900, 750: smaller sizes add maneuverability, control and speed. The smaller you go, the more suitable the wing becomes for wave riding, wing foiling in stronger wind conditions and riding larger swells.
No matter which size you choose, a Glider wing is designed to offer high lift per square centimetre of surface area.
Recommended Tail Wings
Pro 180
Our recommended tail wing for the Glider. The Pro is a very versatile tail wing, offering a stable ride with a nice tracking feel.
The Pro 180 is also available in ‘Short’. This Short version reduces the fuselage length from 66cm down to 59cm or added maneuverability and sharper pitch-response.
PRO 180 H.A.R
In lighter conditions, the High Aspect Ratio version of the Pro 180 offers wing foilers and windsurf foilers more efficiency and performance compared to the standard 180.
SLX 160
For more advanced wing and windsurf foilers, an SLX tail wing offers even more speed and acceleration.
SLX 180 H.A.R
In lighter conditions, the High Aspect Ratio version of the SLX offers wing foilers and windsurf foilers more efficiency and performance compared to the standard SLX.
Starboards new foil connection system: UCS
What is UCS?
UCS is an open, simplified foil connection system designed to be a standard shared by many foil brands.
Who is it for?
For everyone. From pro riders who wish to fine tune wing angles to every day foilers who just want parts to fit each other, a UCS foil “just works” right out of the box.
Strong and light for freestyle, streamlined and extremely stiff for racing, compatible with thick or thin wings, UCS also offers geometry options that work for all foiling disciplines, from wing to windsurf.
All in an elegant and simple-to-use system.
How do the wings connect?
Slide on the wings and tighten all the bolts that are conveniently placed on the same side. Both front and tail wings use the same connection, with large, flat mating surfaces that guarantee maximum strength and stiffness.
A thin carbon cover wraps around the top of the saddle to guarantee a smooth, streamlined nose no matter the front wing’s shape, size and thickness. No more steps or seamlines to disturb the flow of water.
How does the mast connect?
Two pairs of bolts placed side by side creates an innovative mast-fuselage connection that is simple, strong and incredibly stiff. A subtle mating V-shape keeps it all aligned under pressure.

ALL PROS, NO CONS
The Pro series are easily our most popular tail wing: they are simply great at a very wide range of foiling disciplines: freeriding, freestyling, wave riding, downwinding or racing - the Pro does it all extremely well.
- Vertical wing tips: gives you traction, control and stability.
- Relatively thick wing tips maintains stiffness from tip to tip: gives you pitch stability, as well as some extra safety and toughness.
- A fast foil section: the Pro 180 has clocked speeds up to 32 knots. Its sheer stability lets the rider lock in and load.

With their larger surface area and their thicker, stiffer shape, the Freeride tail wings are all about maximum stability,
The vertical wing tips provide tractional stability and they are shaped blunt to make the wings tough and safe.
Riding these tail wings is a real joy: take offs are as easy as 1-2-3. Transitions can happen slowly: the foil will be happy to keep flying and maintain maximum stability.

ALL-ROUND FREESTYLE
The E-Types are a family of medium aspect wings. By nature, medium aspect wings are versatile, maneuverable and easy to control. This makes them all-round: they are suitable for a wide range of foiling styles.
The Pro versions of the E-Type offer the technical rider more speed, quicker acceleration and more pop. Our most recommended wing for freestyle and high-performance freeride. Designed in collaboration with World Freestyle Champion Lennart Neubauer, SUP Surfing World Champion Benoit Carpentier and European Freestyle Champion Steven Van Broekhoven.

2023 Starboard Glider 1400 and 1700 Carbon with 72cm V8 Alloy mast
The largest GLIDERS are superb for pump foiling, featuring large high-aspect wings for maximum glide and maximum flying efficiency. This package pairs them with the stiff 72cm V8 alloy mast, found to be the optimum length for the pump foil discipline.
Gliders are ideal for lakes, flat water foiling and connecting multiple smaller waves. The Glider 1700 brings huge lift and is great for pump foiling, ultra light wing wingfoiling. The 1400 works well for light weight riders for pump-foiling and also a sensible largest front wing for intermediate to advanced wing foilers.
The Glider's high aspect ratio and relatively straight leading edge increases flight efficiency for a maximum glide with less drag. The wings are relatively flat for maximum lift and pumping efficiency, with the asymmetrical foil profile section gradually reducing in thickness towards the wing tips for extra speed and glide. The High Aspect Ratio (H.A.R.) RAZR 250 tail wing was specially developed to pair with the high aspect ratio Glider front wings for the ultimate in flat-water flight performance.
